The Golden State Challenge is Better With Others
First Jimmy, then Marla and now their friends! In 2023 Jimmy ran the Run Sip Santa Barbara half which inspired Marla as she cheered him on. Jimmy encouraged her to begin her running journey just one month later. They BOTH did the Golden State Challenge in 2023, with Marla completing Surf City 10, Long Beach, Malibu and a GSC Virtual Race. Jimmy got his GSC 2023 medal completing Santa Barbara, Surf City 10, Long Beach and Malibu.
They loved it so much they’re doing it again this year, already mixing it up by starting with Surf City Marathon in February. AND they’ve convinced a few friends to join them for the challenge this year. See where Marla and Jimmy’s 2024 Golden State Challenge will take them and let their journey inspire yours!
Marla and Jimmy have already completed Surf City 5k and the Run Sip Santa Barbara relay together. They plan to tackle a few different distance in some of their next races, still deciding on some of the locations. The good news is, there’s still plenty to choose from with six event weekends left in 2024. And they get to run with friends who will complete their first Golden State Challenge this year – all because they heard about the awesome time Marla and Jimmy had in 2023. And Marla is stoked to run ALL her qualifying races in person this year!
