She inspired him to run and as an engaged couple they ran the Santa Barbara relay on their way to their Golden State Challenge together
Want to get inspired to run one of the Golden State Challenge races? Cheer on finishers at an upcoming finish line. How about Santa Barbara May 11?
That’s what happened when Serafin Aguilar Jr cheered on his now-wife Cindy Loza at the 2022 Long Beach half finish line. Surrounded by friends and families of all the runners achieving their trained for dreams, he got caught up in all the enthusiasm.
Let Cindy and Serafin’s charming story inspire your next run and even more, your 2024 Golden State Challenge
His first thought after being wildly excited for Cindy’s first half marathon finish was “I want to do that too!” And so together they trained and ran the Santa Barbara relay as an engaged team in May of 2023, beginning their Golden State Challenge that would culminate in grabbing their running 4th Golden State Challenge race finish back where it all started – in Long Beach in October 2023…just two weeks before their wedding. They couldn’t have planned it better!
When we first met Cindy and Serafin, they had just finished the relay in Santa Barbara – a perfect way to start a running journey. They were so excited to be doing the Golden State Challenge in the same year they were getting married and everyone around them got caught up in their enthusiasm. The crew they brought with them to Long Beach to celebrate their special race, last one as an engaged couple, cheered them on the whole way. We’re so proud to have now-Mr. and Mrs. as part of our Golden State Challenge family. Come join them!
